Credit Cards

When you select to pay via credit card, you will be taken to our payment processing partner (VCS - www.vcs.co.za), where you can safely and securely make a credit card payment. This will force your browser into a secure mode, which you will see displayed as a padlock on the site. All credit card transactions are 128 bit Secure Socket Layers (SSL) encrypted. The company's documents and site's registered domain is checked and verified by Thawte.

If, for some reason, your credit card is rejected, you will not be able to try a second time with the same order. The reason for this is that each order is allocated a unique key code that can only be processed against a credit card transaction once - this is a security measure to ensure that no duplicate payments can ever go off against your orders. Either you can cancel your existing order and replace it to get a new order number, or alternatively contact us and we will process your credit card purchase manually for you. In this case, you will be asked to send us a photocopy of the front and back of your credit card. If you would rather change your payment method and arrange an EFT, that is also 100% fine - please just remember to email us a copy of your proof of payment - our banking details are listed below under EFT.

3 Domain Security - is a new method of security mandated by the Card Associations to enhance the security of online transactions. Mastercard's product is called "SecureCode" and Visa's product is called "Verified by Visa" The 3D-Secure refers to three domains involved in the security - they are the Acquiring or Merchant's bank, the Card Association's financial networks ie Mastercard and Visa and the Issuing or Cardholder's bank.

The system authenticates the cardholder before the transaction takes place by diverting the browser to the bank that issued the card, who then request some secret, perhaps a pin, from their cardholder that will conclusively prove that this actually is the cardholder entitled to use this card. Once they are satisfied that this is their cardholder, they issue an authentication receipt which is then presented to the merchant's bank along with the authorisation request. If the transaction is then approved by the issuing bank, they may not charge the transaction back to the merchant because the cardholder disputes the transaction as not being originated by them.

Once the payment has been verified your order will be processed and you will be redirected back to A Pets Life. Only South African issued credit cards are accepted - no foreign cards can be processed.


Should you prefer to pay by EFT, you will see our banking details listed as soon as you select the EFT option. An email copy of your order along with the banking details will be sent to you.

We do our utmost to ship all parcels within 2 to 7 working days, but depending on the products in your cart, this might be slightly longer or shorter. Your order will be updated, which you can see by logging in to your account, but a copy will also be sent to you via email. These are estimated times only - we are reliant on quick turnaround times from both suppliers and courier companies. Should we run into any situations where stock is not available from a supplier or importer (out of stock or recently discontinued etc.), you will be notified immediately and given the option of swopping this item or obtaining a credit voucher or refund. If the parcel has been dispatched from A Pet's Life and there is a delay in the expected delivery time due to the courier company, we will assist you as much as possible in dealing with the courier company. Once the parcel has left our premises, the onus is on you to track and follow up on the status of your delivery with the relevant delivery company.  

Free Delivery

Free delivery is offered on all orders over R500.00 in value and under 15kg in weight. If you are in a major centre, your parcel will be delivered via Courier Door to Door. If you stay in an outlying area, your parcel will be sent via Post Office Counter to Counter. If you live in an outlying area and opt for Courier Door to Door, there will be an additional courier charge which will be dependent on your area and size / weight of your parcel. To check on this cost prior to placing your order, please pop us an email

Parcels over 15kg = for every additional 15kg, we charge an “overweight” fee of R75, up to a maximum order size of 200kg. 


Everyone is welcome to collect / send your own courier to collect from us - there is no handling fee on our orders and your delivery fee (if applicable) would then fall away. We are based in Stikland, Bellville in the Western Cape.


Only one voucher per order can be used. Vouchers are valid for 1 year and you need to be logged into your account in order for the code to activate. You will find the voucher code block on the "My Cart" page whilst going through the check out process. Free Shipping does not apply to orders using a voucher.

General Delivery Information

If you do not qualify for free delivery, you will be charged a flat rate fee of R125 for delivery. Traditional snail mail (Ordinary Parcel via the Post Office) includes tracking and is very reliable, although it does take 3 - 10 days from the date that your parcel is dispatched. Door-to-door usually arrives within 1 to 2 working days if you are within the Cape Town Metropole and 2 to 3 working days if you are in any other major city centre - this is from the time that your parcel is dispatched from our office. All parcels are dispatched as soon as we have received the products from suppliers should we not be holding your specific products in stock. Delivery via courier door-to-door takes place Monday to Friday during office hours only. Orders might occasionally be shipped in 2 or more parcels due to logistics and timing, but generally all items are shipped together in one parcel. While the couriers usually always deliver within the time specified above, these times are estimates and cannot be guaranteed. A Pet's Life cannot be held liable for delays in delivery times.

Delivery Address

If your parcel is being shipped via courier door-to-door, you must provide a DAYTIME physical address for delivery. Courier companies unfortunately cannot guarantee specific times that they will deliver your parcel, but it will be during working hours from a Monday to Friday. If you want your parcel delivered only on a specific day (eg. a Monday or Wednesday), please make a note of this in the comment block when placing your order. Also, if it would be okay to leave your parcel with a neighbour for example - please let us know. If the courier has attempted to deliver the parcel twice and has been unable to do so due to the residence / business being closed or vacant, you will be charged a re-delivery fee of R200. Parcels being shipped via the Post Office can be sent to a postal box address or your physical address of choice. If you opt to have your parcel shipped via the Post Office to a physical address, it will then go to the Post Office nearest the address supplied. We only ship parcels to addresses within our South African borders. Please ensure that you include your FULL ADDRESS - including suburb and correct area code.
